Many thanks to Rebecca & Joe for asking me to be their wedding photographer on this special day.
This was to be my very first wedding photography assignment at Wethele Manor.
In order to ensure that everything runs smoothly on the big day, it’s important to be well-prepared. That’s why, as a professional wedding photographer, I like to schedule a scouting trip with the bride and groom a few weeks ahead of the wedding day. During this visit, we’ll tour the venue together, taking note of important locations and lighting conditions. We’ll also have a chance to take some pre-wedding photos, which can help the couple to relax and feel more comfortable in front of the camera on the actual wedding day.
In addition to the photo shoot, we’ll also spend some time discussing the couple’s vision for their wedding photos. This might include specific poses or shots that they would like to capture, or general ideas about the overall look and feel of the photos. We’ll also go over a shot list, which is a detailed list of all the photos that the couple would like to have taken on the day of the wedding.
Finally, we’ll talk about the timing of the day, so that we can ensure that we have enough time to capture all of the key moments without feeling rushed. This might involve making adjustments to the schedule or planning out specific timelines for different parts of the day.
By taking the time to prepare in advance, we can ensure that the wedding day goes smoothly and that the couple ends up with beautiful, memorable photos that they’ll treasure for years to come.
A Stunning Wedding Venue
Wethele Manor is a 16th-century Georgian house surrounded by well-kept grounds within a 250-acre working farm.
Inside the main building, there are many original features including an unusual inglenook fireplace, old stone floors, solid oak beams together, and an original dairy.
This picturesque wedding venue is situated in the Warwickshire countryside just outside Leamington Spa.
About The Wedding Day
I arrived at the venue 1 hour early “as always” which gave me plenty of time to go over my notes and prepare myself for the long day ahead. Once ready I set about taking a few shots of the building and grounds before finding Rebecca & Joe for the bridal prep photos.
Before long the outdoor ceremony took place outside in the unique wooden Orchard Bothy Structure. All went off without a hitch and Rebecca and Joe got married.
However, the weather was starting to look a bit dodgy so I decided to rattle off the confetti shots and all-important family photos ASAP. Luckily the rain held off and we managed to get all the photos as planned.
Now it was time for the wedding breakfast so everyone was invited into the marque for a lavish meal and speeches.
The heavens finally opened up during the main course and fizzled out pretty quickly. Thankfully this offered a bit of relief on such a warm day.
Now that it had cooled off a little we headed off to take some formal bridal photos around the grounds. Then back to cut the cake and have the first dance.
As planned I stayed on into the evening, finishing with some fantastic twilight shots before leaving the party.
Many congratulations Rebecca and Joe. Thank you for your hospitality and for being a great couple to work for!
